It has been way to long since I posted an update! So here goes!
At the end of September we will be welcoming a baby girl to our household, after many years of fertility treatments and miscarriages, we are having a miracle baby! So that has been part of my absence over the past year.
I will be teaching an art class in Coaldale November 17, 2018 and it will be a Gnome Class. A description for the upcoming rec and culture guide is the following: Paverpol is a unique medium that is fun to use, it is a liquid medium that once dried and cured is waterproof and outdoor safe! In this class we will be making a Gnome that is a fun winter or Christmas decor piece. The head is 6″ round and the hat is unique as you make it! The class will run 4 hours, to allow for some dry time between layers.
All registration will be through the Town of Coaldale.
I look forward to getting back into teaching!
It’s that time of year again, kids are back in school and schedules are filling up! I’m trying something new this fall, a running class schedule.
The First Saturday of the month (except long weekends) is Introduction to Paverpol (Paverpol 101), register and pay by the Wednesday before to secure your spot. As long as there are 2 people registered the class will run! If this goes over well I will set up a similar running class for Paverpol Technique (Paverpol 201) and every now and again I will surprise you with a new product or project to take home with you.
So the dates are: October 7, November 4, and December 2.
I look forward to new classes with you this fall!!
Just a heads up that on April 1, 2016 prices increased. I did my best to keep them small, but there have been changes. All the prices on the website are correct.
It has been a busy spring and I have been enjoying meeting new people and seeing projects that people have made, so feel free to show me pictures.
January has flown by! I have been busy this winter working on completing a commission for Lethbridge Mennonite Church. I was commissioned to make a Nativity set last year and this year. The set is now 10 pieces: Mary, Joseph, Jesus in a manger, a sheep, shepherd, an angel, 3 wisemen and a camel. The camel is still a work in progress! The set is 3′ tall! I look forward to getting some quality photos taken to show them to you!
Please check out the Upcoming Classes tab to see what is being offered in March. There are two class dates offered one in Coaldale and one in Lethbridge.
In the past month it has come to light that a child, in the circle of people that surround me, has been sexually abused. All is being dealt with appropriately, but that doesn’t mean much when you are suffering.
I created the piece pictured below as a guttural response to this trauma. She is called “Forged in Fire”. For I believe that this child will be an amazing survivor. The child is surrounded by family that cares and that love.
It is not much – but I know that the family could use all the support that can be offered.
In order to support the family, I am auctioning off this piece and all funds will go to the family. It is a small thing that I am doing but I hope that we can make it into a much bigger thing.
The auction will be held on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/graceworksartstudio, it will be comment style on the pinned post on the top of my wall. It will run until October 30, 2015 and bidding will close at 9pm MST. Starting bid is $5.
All proceeds will go to the family. If you are local you can pick it up, if you aren’t local I will ship the piece to you at my cost.
This piece is valued at $150.00 I hope that we can send more than that to the family.
It has been a full and busy year around my place. We have been doing a lot of work in our back yard and basement to make it a better place to be! This has meant that my time in my studio has been limited. But that is changing!!
I have (with the help my husband) been able to rearrange my studio so that I will now be able to teach classes of 3 or 4 in my home studio space. This is a dream come true! The space isn’t perfect (yet!!) but with plans to continue work throughout the coming year I am good to go as it is.
This means that I am available for more dates to teach! Which means there will be more choice for you!
I have put new class dates and projects up (go to the Upcoming Classes page and Class Descriptions) to see what is up. The classes are for the end of November and beginning of December. But if you want a class on date not listed just call me and see if we can arrange something that fits your schedule.
This year I am participating in the Christmas @ CASA artisan market November 20 (5-9pm) & 21 (10-5om). Admission is free so come and take a look, do so Christmas shopping and enjoy all the local talent in and around Lethbridge!
I look forward to reconnecting with you in the coming months!
It has been a busy fall and winter already, I had the opportunity to take a teachers class this fall, learning a new paverpol product PaverSand – keep watch in the new year for abstract classes using the new product!
